Abstract

Blockchain is a decentralized transaction repository, kept under continuous coordination of all participants, whose data is considered immutable. Based on the blockchain, applications (smart contracts) can be created that extend the blockchain with equally transaction-based, distributed and secure automation. The aim of this contribution is to present possibilities and potentials of blockchain in automation and Industry 4.0 with a focus on production in factories. For this purpose, a conceptual model, as an abstract solution, is conceived and explained for Blockchain applications.
