Abstract

In this contribution, the authors present an evolutionary concept that builds a bridge to the ‘Engineering with the AAS’ target described in Part 1 in several stages. This concept enables a step-by-step approach that gives companies time to gather experience, develop the necessary standards along the way and involve their employees. An architecture overview summarises the
new elements, in which the AAS serves as the central distribution mechanism for standardised and proprietary data models. Key elements of the evolution are mixed data models with a degree of standardisation of 0%-100% and the gradual introduction of software-supported iteration functions for efficient data exchange.
