Abstract

Increasing demands on the control system software of automation systems cause immense costs for programming, simulation, and testing. Expensive batch systems and simulation tools support software developers but are only viable in big projects. This paper examines how to replicate the most important features of these systems with standard programming tools. To provide such a low-cost solution for smaller projects, function block libraries are developed on the basis of recipe method and object-oriented PLC-programming.
