Abstract

Due to the market demand for greater flexibility and individuality, modular production systems are now widely used in the process industry. The potential this offers can only be exploited if the associated logistical processes are designed to be as flexible as the production. The plug-and-operate vision using logistic modules is pursued by the application of modular logistic system concepts. In this article, we analyze the logistic requirements and the application possibilities of the NAMUR Module Type Package as well as the adaptations required for its application in production-related logistics.
