Abstract

The Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) requires cybersecurity in ‘products with digital elements’. Manufacturers are wondering how they can implement the technical requirements of the EU regulation in their products by the end of 2027. This article explains how IEC 62443, profiles and vertical CRA standards can help. It shows why not only manufacturers, but also integrators and certifiers can benefit from profiles. Core issue of the article is an example: using
the TeleTrusT profile proposal for an industrial firewall, insights into the content and development of profiles and vertical standards are provided. Finally, this article aims to motivate readers to actively participate in shaping the
vertical standards that are now emerging.
