Belt and Solar Drying of Sewage Sludge and Utilization of Dried Sludge

Abstract

Against the backdrop of increasing disposal charges for dewatered sewage sludge solar drying and belt drying offer a high flexibility and safety in its disposal. Aside the mass and volume reduction a sufficient storage stability and improved transportability is achieved. For the drying process an energy and mass management throughout the whole year is decisive and the problem of exhaust air treatment has to be solved satisfactorily. Depending on the political framework a refined dried material can be used as a solid fuel or as a fertilizer component, thus creating a reusable material.
