Rainwater from adjacent buildings can be used to irrigate public green spaces with the help of coupled infrastructure elements. For that, not only technical questions need to be clarified, but also the cooperation between actors, legal questions as well as responsibilities. By means of a constellation analysis between scientists and practitioners, new solutions are developed for the case of park irrigation with rainwater from rooftops of adjacent houses and streets in an urban neighbourhood. The transferability to other cases is made possible by using a hypothetical case with generalizable basic assumptions (park in an existing urban neighbourhood, rainwater from rooftops of adjacent buildings, street
between park and buildings). The analysis shows that a functioning constellation of rainwater harvesting for public green spaces is based on
the functional coupling of infrastructure components as well as high technical and legal expertise and must be supported by a network of relevant stakeholders.
